Default thinking of starting zeo

Hi people. First some info about tank. Tank was started in early December 2017.
1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter - 170L
2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter - 150L
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique - Dosing ATI Essentials
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.)-po4 remover in a bag.
5. Are you using Ozone-no
6. Are you using UV-no
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume)- Just started using Deltec SC1351, before was bubble magus c3.5
8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels - unknown and 20
9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels - 490, 8,7, 1380
10. What filtration method do you use berlin method
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.)- GEN 3 x 1
12. What corals do you keep= SPS and a few LPS
13. Tissue color (light or dark)- nice coloured but dark
14. How long has the tank been running. Just over 2 years.
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system. Lower nutrients. get rid of small amount of algea i have and make colours pop on my sps.
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.)- none
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.)- unknown. maybe 20/30kg
18. Any present problems. little bit of algae recentley...never a problem before.
19. Problem description: since feeding fish more because have a copper banded butterfly fish my nutrients have gone up from 1 ppm to 20.
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.)- salifert
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity, temp, etc.)salinity 35ppt, 25 degrees C
23. Which salt brand do you use - reef crystals

Since my tank matured/cycled my nitrients were not a problem. I didnt feed much and have a low stock of just pair of clown fish, goby, cardinalfish and a dottyback. A few months ago i removed the dottyback and added a copperbanded BF. Now I feed more and I think my system caouldnt cope with the extra bio load. no3 went up from 1/2ppm to around 20. Now i get algae and colours have darkened up. so corals look better for the extra no3 but the algae is my biggest annoyance. slimey brown stuff, not much, but my reef was so spot less before. I would like to get it spot less again. I was hoping to just dose zeo bak and zeo start and get my bacterial filtration boosted up. Some advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

p.s I have just upgraded my skimmer....its only been running a week and i feel its 'over skimming' ...too big for my little reefer 170.

Hello Ross, do you plan to use the ZeoVit material also ?

Basically dosing products like ZeoBac, ZeoStart and BioMate without the material can be helpful to reduce nutrients but they are much more effective if the material is used additional.

I would consider it. No room for a reactor though....

Looking at dosing for the zeostart, sounds like I would need to dilute it for a tank my size. can you recommend a method?

I see, would recommend you to start as follows:

ZeoBac – 1 drop daily for 14 days, followed by 3 x 1 drop weekly
ZeoStart – 0.1 ml 2 x daily
SpongePower – 1 drop daily (optional)
BioMate – 2 drops every other day (optional)

silly question but how will I dose such a small amount? 0.1ml?

Yes, you can try to put ZeoVit material in the net bag and put it in the sump. It is recommended to use the reactor afterwards.
(Temporary alternatives are possible. But what we want is a "stable flow rate per hour" horizontal method, which is more clear / precise than the net bag method, There seems to be some correlation between the amount of flow and the reduction of nutrients, and if the flow is unclear / untouchable, it seems to affect the health of the coral)

Use a syringe with 0.1 ml. Salifert K + ~ test kit contains 0.1ml syringe, I use it as a tool

There are 1 ml syringes available in the pharmacy, they are working perfect. Many test kits do have those small syringes also.

Hi guys,

So I have been dosing since december 24th.

Up to yesterday I was dosing, 1 drop of Bak and 5 of Start.

Should I just continue to dose Start now?

My Nitrates do not seem to have come down, still around 20 ppm. But there is less algae in the tank now.

Should I continue with 5 drops of Zeo start daily?

Thanks

Zeo Bac 1 drop for 14 days. After that Zeo Bac dose, 1 drop 3 times a week.

Zeo Start = 0.1ml x2 (morning and evening)

Zeo Sponge Power 1 drop every other day

Bio Mate 2 drops every other day

Salt + water, change 5 ~ 10% every week. If the tank has built-in sand, evacuate and adjust the skimmer humidity.

If possible, Zeovit material is a system that incorporates a bacterial source to help remove excess nutrients and support stable biology. Stirred bacteria are also said to be good food for corals. ZeoVit material also helps corals to have better health / polyp growth / good PE. The lower the malnutrition water quality, the more nutritional supplements, the greater the benefits of coral absorption and help.

should i still be running ATI Aluminium phosphate remover?

should i take out my sand (it is quite dirty and 2 years old) and replace with new?

should i wet or dry skim?

i'm starting to get patches of fluffy green colored algae now.

Keep plan
ZeoBac-1 drop per day for 14 days, then 3 x 1 drop per week
ZeoStart-0.1 ml, 2 times a day
SpongePower-1 drop per day (optional)
BioMate-2 drops every other day (optional)

I think, reduce 1/2, and gradually reduce it in a few weeks, and remember to keep the Zeo Basic Plan while doing so.
The optional part of the registration is recommended to be implemented. In this process, no increase in nutrition is expected.

For the sand part, change the water every week, we can do more vacuuming and siphon more outlets at the bottom of the sand. If it were me, I would try to do this first to avoid affecting biology.

ZeoVit is a bacterial system. The products after Zeo's basic application should be removed as much as possible. The skimmer is adjusted to wet and clean the collection cup to make it more outlet.

If you can, get Zeo CoralSnow, which can help more "products" be discharged through skimmer

Obtain some functional animals, such as snails, to support this process. Manual use of toothbrush, magnetic brush to clean glass

Salt + water, change 5 ~ 10% every week

Can try this

Hello Ross, what is the actual PO4 level (high sensitive test kit or photometer) ?
