Default Skimz 157 hourly flush question

I am new to zeovit and picked up the Skimz ZAR-157 about a month ago. It allows for two different modes:

Mode 1 - Rinses twice per day
Mode 2 - Pump flushes once every hour

The manual refers to mode 1 as the old method and mode 2 as the new method but I can't find any information on people doing hourly rinses. Am I missing something? Is it really the new method? I have stayed on mode 1 for now because it is what seems recommended by Korallen-Zucht.

Oops, ZAR-127*. Not like that should matter.

Welcome to ZeoVit.com !

Usually it works well if you clean the material twice per day if the rocks are really moved around the reactor while cleaning but doing it more often does not really cause a problem. If the rocks are just moved around minimal it might be better to clean them more often. I have never used the reactor you have mention so I am not sure how to really works.

Thanks, G.Alexander. The reactor pumps water into it's own reservoir and then releases it to flush itself out. It definitely moves the zeovit media around. I just had never heard of people doing hourly rinses so I wasn't sure if this was common with other automatic reactor users but I will stick with twice per day for now.

I'm using the 157 Skimz. The wash mode on mine is plenty strong enough. I'm running it in the twice a day mode, have been for a few months now.. working very well.

The 2x doubles the flow rate. The standard is 50g/h/l and 2x makes it 100g/h/l. As far as I can tell the only flush options are hourly or twice a day.

I think I you like to be sure you need to measure the flow, the material and the grain size of it does have a impact to the flow so it can vary.

So for my version you can set the flow for 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, or 1.2 liters of zeolite. Depending on which of those four you select it sets the flow to 50g/h/l. For example, 30g/h for my 0.6liters of zeolite. Then the 2x would make it 60g/h.
