I have no such experience. If my understanding is correct, this seems to be equivalent to a tank replacing half of the new amount of water. Perhaps it is good to keep the individual elements on both sides and the temperature close.

If water parameters including nutrients are fine in the new system I would expect not much issues however it might be better to slowly exchange the water from one system to the other as slow as possible over a week for example in daily smaller steps as the new systems seems to run already.

From the picture it looks like some kind of brown algae. They do not hurt but if you like to remove them you can do but I would recommend to do it in two steps within the next 2 weeks instead of all at once.
