I too had high barium in my icp test, but after searching around literally hundreds of peoples results seem to show high barium and the majority arnt using zeovit,so im thinking it could be something in the saltmix/dosing salts and have recently switched both but have not had a retest yet.Although that being said as i recall barium is a contaminant in gfo so that may explain most other tanks but not zeovit ones.

At this point I know for sure water changes lower the barium level, so it's not my salt. I also have never used GFO. Elevated barium may come from more than one source, but there is clearly a source in my tank that is I identified and as of right now elevated barium is the only working hypothesis I have for why corals deteriorate unless I maintain a very high water change rate (8 gallons a day).

i've noticed the use of dried food was causing the deposit of barium in my system.
I stopped feeding my fishes with it for a couple of weeks and with the weekly water changes I could manage to bring it down and since then I'm using only frozen food.
I don't know if it has some connection with colour coloration but after this change the colours of my corals are just amazing.

Well, I'll join the party.. I tested about 10 weeks ago and discovered high levels of barium. Soon after I discovered the barium, my tank began to suffer. Polyp extension was was slowing until totally gone then loss of color.
STN in some of my colonies &
Total loss of 5 SPS... Some of my SPS had what appeared to be burnt tips or melting down word tips..

I also noticed what looked like diatom algae on my sand bed, heavy heavy brown in some spot of my sand bed.. I began big water changes 25 gallons at a time and removing sand bed, slowly..

PE and color has now began to return...

Any ideas ???!!!!

I too have high levels of barium per my triton test and what looks to be diatoms. I also have elevated PO4 .08-.04.

Spacetime - it seems we have the same issues.. The following is what my (diatom) looks like..

Any idea or ideas of where the barium is coming from??

Let's beat the bushes until we find out !!

Keep in mind my tank is still recovering from these issues so, pardon the tank..
