Default Daelie's Reefer 250

Hey there,

I have a reefer 250 that has been growing decently well and I'm looking to get into the zeovit program. I've seen a few tanks running without the stones and I think, at least in the beginning, that I'd just like to start dosing ZeoBak, Zeostart, etc to get a feel for it. Hopefully that's possible, any advice would be amazing.

1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter - 250L
2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter - 200L
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique - Dosing Tropic Marin Balling Salts
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.) No
5. Are you using Ozone - No
6. Are you using UV - No
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume) - Vertex Omega 130 - Rated 150 - 500 litres
8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels - PO4 is 0.06PPM and Nitrate is about 5 PPM
9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels - Calcium is 460 ppm, Magnesium 1400 ppm and Alk 130 ppm or 7.2 dKh
10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.) - Just using live rock and a very small amount <1 litre of sipoax biomedia
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.) - Using Giesemann 8 bulb that I've retrofitted to be 6 bulbs with two reefbrite XHO actinics
12. What corals do you keep - Mostly SPS with a few scolymia and euphyllia
13. Tissue color (light or dark) - Mostly dark
14. How long has the tank been running - Greater than 1 year
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system - Hopefully increase coloration and growth
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.) - Dosing some extra nitrate and amino acids since my bioload is quite small
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.) - Came from older system, probably >3 years, at least 25-30 kg
18. Any present problems - Bit of cyanobacteria, very slow growth
19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.) - Very little algae in the tank, some corals just looked stressed, no polyp extension and poor coloration while some others look perfect but lack growth
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.) - I use hanna checkers for Alkalinity and Phosphate and Red Sea for nitrate, Salifert for Calcium, Mag, Potassium
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.) - No dosing as of yet, but have purchased the main products for the system
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity, temp, etc.) - Temperature 25.0 C, Salinity 35 ppt, pH 8.0-8.2
23. Which salt brand do you use - Currently using Reef Crystals

Welcome to Zeovit.com daelie !

If you like to give it a try you can also dose the basics without the ZeoVit material as follows:

ZeoBac – 7 drops 2 x weekly
ZeoStart – 0.7 ml 2 x daily but recommend to start with just 50%
BioMate – 14 dorps 2 x weekly – optional
SpongePower – 7 drops every other day – optional

Thanks for the quick response, Im quite excited to give this a try.

Is the increased dosage because of not having the stones? My tank is 250 litres or 60 gallons about and most are those dosages are more than triple the recommended dosages on the bottles?

I am sorry, I was under the impression that the volume is in US gallons not in liters so therefore my recommendation is not correct.

For a net water volume of 200 liters I would recommend to dose as follows:

ZeoBac – 2 drops 2 x weekly
ZeoStart – 0.2 ml 2 x daily but recommend to start with just 50%
BioMate – 4 dorps 2 x weekly – optional
SpongePower – 2 drops every other day – optional

Again, sorry for the confusion.

G.Alexander
