Default Setup new tank

Hello,

I start a new tank after fighting with dinoflagtellen and cyano.

I see 2 different start up. Namely the 14 days cycle and the other from the zeoguide

8. Dosage

The addition of ZEObak, ZEOstart and Sponge Power can be started now.
ZEObak: 5 ml per 100 liters/25 gallons
ZEOstart: 10 ml per 100 liters/25 gallons
Sponge Power: 3 ml per 100 liters/25 gallons

Day 2 and Day 3

Dosing break.

Day 4:

Dose ZEObak, ZEOstart and Sponge Power as recommended on the products label.

Day 4-10:

Different algae phases can appear, like some brown slime algae followed by some healthy green algae. Use the same dosage like described for day 4 above. Double check Salinity
Day 10

First herbivore fish (max. 2 per 200 L) can be added, also sea urchins and turbo snails. You should also be able to add the first not to sensitive corals like branching Montipora. Add now the Activated Carbon.

Activated Carbon

As soon as the first animals are stocked into the system, add the Activated Carbon: 0.5 – 1 Liter per 1000 liters as recommended. Replacement interval 30 days.

Day 11-14

Keep dosage as described for day 4. Test Carbonate Hardness and Salinity carefully. More corals can now be added into the system. Additional fish can be added but should be done very slow. Also fish feeding has to be done very carefully in this phase as biology is not very stabile in this phase. Do not add more fish than 1-2 fish per 250 liters per week. After additional 4 weeks you can add the rest of the fish which where planed for the system.

And the other says this .
A) Amount to be used in newly established tanks with fresh water and live rock

(non-stocked):

Use 1 liter ZEOvit per 100 gallons net water volume with two exchange intervals of

4 weeks each. Subsequent dosing should follow that designed for tanks that are

nutrient poor and running stable with ZEOvit system. Water flow through the

media should be between 50 and 100 gallons per hour.

Zeobak
A) Amount to be used in newly established tanks with fresh water and live rock

(non-stocked):

During the start of the ZEOvit system:

2 - 4 drops per 25 gallons net water volume daily over a period of 2 weeks.

Subsequently, dose 1 - 2 drops per 25 gallons net water volume once or twice

weekly until the change of ZEOvit.

Which of the 2 is good now, because hey are totally different dosages

If it is a complete fresh system without animals I would recommend you to cycle it as follows:

Hello Alexander,

I am now on day 14 and still got a high No2 but no Nh3. Algae growth is still not there, only my sand has a little green algae. With the previous start-ups I had really brown algae, then green algae and no No2 within 10 days. Why is it so different now?

Nitrates are 5 ppm and phosphate 0,008 ppm.

Since your system doesn't use live rock, the cycle will take more time. If you like it, I think there is no animal in the tank. It is a good opportunity to consider adding some fresh and good live rock to Sump.

Its the same setup as before. With dry rock, as i said the previous start-ups I had really brown algae, then green algae and no No2 within 10 days.

Thats why i asked my self why i still measured No2 after 14 days.

Looks good. I think biology at this stage seems to be quite important. It just takes a while for the system. But believe that the future is a very beautiful coral reef

I would recommend to continue dosing as follows:

ZeoBac – every other day
SpongePower – ever other day
ZeoStart – 2 x daily

As long as NO2 is elevated you should not add animals. Maybe it is just a issue with the test kit, to rule it out you can try to measure this parameter with another test kit.
