Default Red Slime

I noticed a small spot and over the past few months it is appearing in other random spots. Some of it has little bubbles growing on it. Not sure if its cyano but tank started a as zeovit a little over 1 year ago. I do use cyano clean as preventative and a balance. Is there anything else I can do or change or should I just leave it alone. All the corals are doing good.

Im trying to upload photos but the website says security token missing contact admin

I don't know the "small spot" you mentioned, is there a picture about it? In my tank, the next day after Zeo Bac twice a week, there will be small white spots on the glass, like small cotton (this is a normal phenomenon, also a coral food), usually a magnet will be used in a week. The cleaning brush does the cleaning action, ranging from 1 to 2 times. Usually the appearance of Cyanos is reddish brown

It is red slime on the rocks. Parts of the rock have this growing not the glass not white spots.

If it is Cyanos, try the mixture Zeo Bac+Zeo CoralSnow (1:2 dose) for 7-10 days. A toothbrush is a good helper. Adjust the skimmer to wet.

Has the Cyano phenomenon only recently begun to happen?

Is the Tds good in the source water? Have you checked it?

What is the PO4 level?

What brand of activated carbon is used? Some inferior activated carbon seems to have the possibility of leaching phosphorus

Is the reactor flow check normal?

Is the T5 lamp old? How long to replace

Additional ideas = Zym can also try

This started as a small patch in a single area about 2 months ago and is very slowly progressing to various larger areas throughout tank

Tds is 0 and all filters recently replaced too

Po4 is 0.00 on Hanna checker

Only use kz carbon

Reactor flow is confirmed good

T5 bulbs are about 5 months old and stay on for 8hrs daily

Thank you. So what are all the products you feed for tank? You can try Coralsnow+bac first and use a toothbrush to clean the affected area. If the rock in the affected area can move, when replacing the water, take the rock out and wash it with old water, then put it back in the tank (can be considered in the high flow area)

When adding the mixture Coralsnow+bac, let's try to temporarily turn off the skimmer for 2~3hr, then open the skimmer and adjust the wet

I would also recommend to start using a mixture of 2 ml CoralSnow and 1 drops ZeoBac daily as a treatment first. This has helped many in the past but I have to add that there are also system which had not luck with it. Lets dose it for 10 days to see if the situation does improve, while doing this no additional ZeoBac dosage is necessary.

Further options are CyanoClean or A-Balance.

Make sure to use a purest water filter resin as the last stage of your RO unit, replace the resin regular.

Also do not dose Iodine and temporary just the “basics”.

I use all 5 of the self releasing tablets in my system. I also manually dose cv, sp, pohls xtra special, coral booster, flat worm stop, biomate, zeofood, zeobak and cyano clean as preventative

[based on every 25 US gallons]

Regular,every 25 US gallons = 1 drop Zeo bac / 1ml Coral Snow

Cyanos treatment,every 25 US gallons = 1 drop Zeo bac / 2 ml CoralSnow

I would recommend to remove the tablets and just dose the treatment mixture, ZeoStart, SpongePower & BioMate as usual and if necessary K+ and for sure Ca and KH supplements.

As you already dose CyanClean you can add 2 drops / 25 US gallons to the treatment mixture of ZeoBac and CoralSnow daily additional.
