Default Returning to reefing...

Hi Zeovit,

First post here although I've been lurking since '07. I've always considered Zeovit but never got around to it with past tanks. After a 8-10yr hiatus I want to get back into reefing. This time to start with Zeovit!

I've read many posts here and recommendations but wanted to start my own thread using the initial 14 day cycle steps: https://zeovit.com/forums/showpost.p...60&postcount=7

Here are system spec as I know from manufacture as they are being ordered/delivered. Tank will be a Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 650.

1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter 175G
2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter Maybe 150G with rock/sand?
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique 2-Part for now since no bioload
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.) N/A
5. Are you using Ozone N/A
6. Are you using UV N/A
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume) Bubble King DC200 RD3 (1000 liter)
8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels N/A
9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels N/A
10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.) N/A
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.) 3 - Radion XR15 Pro
12. What corals do you keep Will be mostly SPS with some LPS
13. Tissue color (light or dark) N/A
14. How long has the tank been running New
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.) N/A
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.)
18. Any present problems N/A
19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.) N/A
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.) Hanna/Salifert
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.) N/A
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity, temp, etc.) N/A
23. Which salt brand do you use Reef Crystal

Based off initial 14 day step #8 and 150G.

Day 1 dose
ZEObak: 5 ml per 100 liters/25 US gallons = 30ml
ZEOstart: 10 ml per 100 liters/25 US gallons = 60ml
Sponge Power: 3 ml per 100 liters/25 US gallons = 18ml

Day 4 dose
ZeoBac 1 drop / 100 liters/25 US gallons = 6 drops
Sponge Power 1 drop / 100 liters/25 US gallons = 6 drops
ZeoStart 0.1 ml / 100 liters/25 US gallons 2 x daily = .6 ml

Salinity - 35ppt
Temp - 78F
Zeo Reactor - Avast Vibe with Apex flow valve/meter attached
Flow: Return with Cor 20 and 2 - Ecotech MP40
Rock: Approximately 100lbs Marco dry
Sand: Approximately 50lbs Marco dry

1. During this period is there a recommended lighting period/intensity?
2. Reactor water flow? (Reactor will be connected inline via return manifold with Apex flow valve)
3. Zeovit media? (should this be 1.5l?)

Thanks and kind regards!

Try to answer your question.
1.Led lamp I have no experience in using, usually the balance is similar to the sun's spectrum is very good (10000k ~ 12000k)
2. Wait for the first time to replace the ZeoVit material, first perform a 14-day cycle
3. Sorry, I don't know much about the unit (150g) , usually 1 pack of ZeoVit material = 400L

It is recommended to use some quality live rock

I think I got some of the info needed after different searches.

1. Lighting 10 hrs equal to 10k/12k
2. Reactor flow - Approx: 600l/150gph
3. 1.5l of Zeovit media

Thanks for your reply and tip on some live rock to be added!

Your dosing plan for the 14 day cycle is correct, just keep in mind that it will take more time as oyu do not use 100% live rock. This might lengthen the cycle to a couple of month before also more delicate corals are doing well. Jackies tip to add some good quality live rock additional will speed up this process.

For a net water volume of 150 US gallons I would recommend to use 1.4 liters Zeovit with a constant water flow through the reactor of ~ 150 US gallons. While the cycle it is recommended to use a “normal” lighting period.
