If the situation already starts to improve I would recommend to continue dosing as usual observing if PO4 comes down slowly again within the next 2 weeks.

You have reported green hair algae, slime algae and dinos, have you had them before the nutrients increases also ?

No I had no Dinos showing or hair algae. Sps growth and color was great prior tank was running very well. After the media exchange I saw the sps Rtn 2-3 days after I believe another day Dinos and green hair started to show... I tested po3 and po4 and noticed how high they were.

I got everything somewhat under control, unfortunately I did lose most of my SPS corals. For some reason I still can not get po4 under .07 and nitrates 10-15ppm. I have a media change in 2 weeks was thinking of adding another 25% of media and upping my zeostart dosing to increase the p04 and p03 consumption. My fish bioload is very heavy.

Thoughts?

Thank you, really a lot of fish for the system size.

Can you please tell me what exactly you dose and how much ZeoVit material you have running in your reactor and what exactly the reactor flow is (measured) ?

Have you already started to vacuum the sand regular while doing water changes and do your skimmer exports enough ?

Which kind of corals do you feed directly ?

I'm 2 fish more than I "should" have. But no illnesses and no agression.

I'm using 500ml of zeolite media, half a bag.

Flow is the questionable variable, it's the Vertex RX-Z 1.5 I had the flow around 60gph. Now I think I have it almost fully open on the valve. Would have to figure out how to exactly measure while it's in the sump.

I vacuum the sand once a week during water changes and stir it daily. Been doing this since day 1. My skimmer does a good job, I run it wet. It's a Skimz Monster 121 rated for 70 gallons with a heavy bio load.

I spot feed acros, chalices, favias, bubble Coral, hammer coral, couple sea fans along with a flower nem.

Ok so I tested the flow rate... I'm pulling 2 gallons every 1.7 sec... Would that mean I'm flowing 112 gallons an hour?

2 drops Zeobak 3 times a week.
I dose .2ml Zeostart twice a day.
2 drops sponge power every other day.
2 drops coral vitalizer every other day.
Lps 1ml every other day.

Thank you, reactor flow is to high, should be ~ 55 US gallons per hour, a little bit more does usually not cause issues.

The reason for the elevated nutrients might be the fish load in conjunction with the additional feeding of your LPS corals. My experience with LPS corals is limited but the ones I have kept never get any additional food while they where doing fine and growing over the years.

You can try to dose as follows:

ZeoBac – 2 drops every other day
ZeoStart – 0.2 ml 2 x daily
SpongePower – 2 drops daily
BioMate – 4 drops very other day (supports reduction of PO4)

+ the other products you already use.
