Default Dosing Night vs. Day

Hey Everyone!

Besides things you would dose more than once a day like start, is there things that would be better dosed at night vs. during the day? I usually just dose first thing in the morning, but if corals eat at night would they prefer food, aminos, CV at night? Sometimes to mix it up I do my morning dosing the night before.

Let me know what you guys think!

I have personally not seen a difference but I usually dosed in the early morning while the lights are still off.

When you had your tank what was your photo period? Can you tell me exactly what you had ramp up, down, intensity etc? I want to mimic it and see if I get more growth. My tank only gets about 8.5 hours of solid darkness. Even though my light is only fully intense for about 6 hours each day Im thinking having the lights on 50% the morning and evening for a good chuck of time is now allowing my corals polyps to come out enough at night to feed.

I had a photoperiod of 10 hours usually on my last tank complete T5 on the other one HQI supplemented by T5. Both about 1 W for each 1 liter system volume of the main tank.

As I understand coral zooxanthellae are most active towards the beginning of a light cycle. With this in mind, I run blue for 30 min. then all lights for 5 hours then 2 hours blue.
Cheers! Mark

So you ramp up faster than you ramp down? Interesting.

I attached a graph that I found. It shows the time from light start up on the bottom and zooxanthellae motility on the left. The arch shows that they begin ramping up activity at 1 hour and peak at approx. 3 hours. And after 8 hours there is little to no activity.
Cheers! Mark
