Hard to say I would replace the material when the PO4 does slowly start to increase. If corals are in the system you might replace the material sooner so I have always tried this out individual, if I have observed a bigger improvement in corals after the exchange I have shorten the changing interval.

To be honest I dont test for phosphate.
I really dont keep enough fish for phosphate to be a problem
I have just stated using zeolites again and have noticed a reduction in nucences algae.
My system has been on the stones for a full month in a reactor fully open so the whole 160 gph I have not measured the flow

How much of the material do you have running and what is the net water volume of the complete system ? Are there corals in it already ?

I have about 120 gallons running 1000ml of material.
I started with a bag of half so 500ml and then two weeks later the full amount in a bag and then to a reactor
my new tank has been up and running since febuary corals and fish

Thank you for the additional information, if the system has a adequate fish stocking level using one bag is OK, just make sure to keep the flow though the reactor at ~ 110 – 120 US gallons per hour, higher flow might cause problems over the time with the corals.
