Yes it does not work.
At the same levels that are effective at killing dino are the same level of bleaching corals

am guessing effectively you are doing nutrient control.. so should your conclusion be running poor nutrient and very low PO4/NO3?
aggressive WC also reduce trace elements if the salt mix lack these elements..
