Default The journey starts 12.09.17

Hi Reefers so today I've setup the redsea peninsula 500 and it is glorious. I have begun the zeovit startup and will record my journey into this method of nutrient reduction.

I would like to thank in advance all the users on this site, I have been reading many guides and reviews of this method and can't wait to photograph the results.
Setup
Peninsula 500
deltec skimmer sc1351
eco A.medic 6000 return
eheim jaeger heater amazing
eco drift 15000 powerhead
2x kessil A360 blue with new mounting arms

Hi there G.Alexander no the peninsula has nothing in it currently on day 3/14 cloud completely gone skimmer still going crazy will be dosing again tomorrow, I have to go away for 4 days so expect a delay with the cycle but will continue when I return. I started marine with a 20 Gallon so have learned to be extremely patient I won't move my quarantined fish till I have perfect parameters.

Yes exactly that, my live rock has a lot of sponges and algae on it I have taken most off manually but I'm not to fussed as I'm away for 3 days, happy to have a longer cycle sorting the diatoms out.

Perfect, lets see how the tank is doing if the first 2 weeks have passed.

Once think I have noticed is different from the 14 day cycle, have you really used ZeoFood instead of SpongePower ?

Quick update currently at day8:
Nitrate has become more stable definitely lots of die off on my live rock, ammonia test picked up traces but extremely low and nitrite 0.00, all other parameters perfect. Have had some white powder forming on flat surfaces skimmer working hard to pull this out due to the aragonite I expect no issue though, I did think it may have been some precipitation because the buildup has attached to the heater again no issue though.
Water extremely clear have ramped powerheads right up now, please ask any questions if you're setting a new reef up and I will offer my experiences and advice.

Day 10 has arrived I have been dosing as per the guide and everything looks great. I have my skimmer on its lowest speed as it just overflows currently still breaking in, water crystal clear only issue is the nitrates which seem very high.
Phosphates 0.01ppm
nitrites 0.00
nitrates 4ppm
ammonia 0.00
I'm hesitant to transfer fish from my 20 gallon sps as they are in ULNS, I've had no algae bloom in the new tank there is lots of die off on the rocks though have seen ammonia go up then down. Do I complete a large water change, fearful this will affect the zeovit as I'm only at day 10?

Day.13 not sure whats happened, 2 fish in the tank are well I also have 6 snails. Phos 0.02 nitrite 0.00 nitrate 16+ppm No algae has ever formed at all in the tank my tang does pick on the live rock some die off on there... I have done a 20% water change don't want to do more as my biology in system very new, skimmer just overflows I lower it down and all it skims is pure foam no dirt in tank. I have tested everything only nitrates are bad rest perfect. Do I just wait and hopefully zeovit will pull the NO3 down or do I need to start making up 200L ro for a large water change ?

Just give the system time, no additional water changes are necessary at the moment. It will take a couple of month before the tanks biology is completely established. It might be time for the first test coral to see how it is doing.
